Salsa With Silvia 4 Kids is a family-owned dance studio founded by Silvia Alexiev, whose kids program launched in 2016. From studios in Washington, DC and downtown Bethesda, it teaches children ballet, hip hop, jazz, tap, modern, Latin dance and Mommy and Me classes, plus bilingual dance-focused summer camps, with an emphasis on fun, discipline and confidence.

Ballet & Modern is an engaging and balanced introduction to two foundational dance styles for children ages 7-10, requiring a full semester commitment. Young dancers explore the grace, discipline, and precise technique of classical ballet -- including center combinations, posture, turns, and leaps -- while discovering the expressive freedom, fluidity, and creativity of modern dance through floorwork, contractions, release, weight shifts, and imaginative movement exploration. Students master a story-driven choreography to perform at the grand recital.

Required equipment

Ballet leotard, tights, and ballet shoes for girls; and stretchy pants, t-shirt, and ballet slippers for boys.
