Bethesda Conservatory of Dance is a Bethesda, MD studio directed by Colleen Snyder, a Dance Masters of America-certified instructor with a dance/movement therapy background. Its stated mission is to ‘provide low pressure, high quality dance instruction’ in a kind, encouragement-based setting for recreational and aspiring dancers from age 2 through teens in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, acro and hip hop. It has won a Best of Bethesda Award and runs a September-to-June season plus summer programs.

About

Together, you and your dancer will experience the magic of movement! This class uses music and props to engage young dancers in fun developmentally appropriate movement. While basic dance shapes and class structure are introduced, our main focus is to inspire a lifelong love of dance while encouraging the development of preschool readiness skills. These skills include, participating with a group, taking turns, spatial awareness, gross and fine-motor skills, and the confidence to gradually separate from the caregiver. This curriculum has been developed by a Board-Certified Dance/Movement Therapist and Nationally Certified Psychotherapist specializing in the development of pre-school age children.

Required equipment

Boys: Black pants, white t-shirt, black tap shoes, black ballet shoes. Girls: Any solid color leotard (skirts are optional), pink or skin tone matching tights, pink ballet shoes.

Fun class, especially if taught by Miss Juleanna, who has wonderful energy and is great with the kids. The end-of-year recital is quite the event, with the cutest outfits for tiny dancers (though was a bit of a hike as we’re in NW).
