About
Level 6: Lengthening the Stroke The swimmer develops the ability to swim longer distances and also develop other methods of propulsion, such as Elementary Backstroke, Breaststroke kick, Finning and Skulling. Treading water is also introduced. Mastery of front crawl and back crawl at this longer distance, as well as proper ability to perform the breaststroke kick is required to advance to the next level.
Required equipment
Bring a swimsuit, towel, goggles (if preferred), a swim cap for longer hair, and a change of clothes. Some schools may require specific items, like swim diapers for toddlers.
Prerequisites
Swimmers must be able to swim front crawl 10 yards with touch and go arms and a strong 6 beat kick at the surface of the water.
