About

The Pre-Professional Division builds on a student's technique by developing physical strength and refining vocabulary and performance quality. Pointe work is introduced in Level 4 and developed over the next four years, with supplemental classes in Variations, Repertoire, Partnering, Jazz, Modern, Pilates, and other street styles depending on the level. This area of the program offers classes specifically geared towards strength and partnering and includes pas de deux classes. Dancers are invited to perform in professional full-length productions, including The Nutcracker, Coppélia, Swan Lake, Paquita, and La Bayadère, and MYB does not charge performance participation or costuming fees. Registration is open throughout the year, with acceptance and placement determined by audition for new students and teacher recommendation for returning students, based on ability rather than age. Level 6 has nine classes per week, plus three Contemporary and three Pilates weekend workshops with dates to be announced.
