KID Museum is a Bethesda, Maryland maker museum whose mission is to foster the "Mind of a Maker" in kids and youth, built around four core values: curiosity, collaboration, creativity and compassion. It runs the Invent the Future Challenge plus field trips, after-school programs, camps, workshops and Sunday open-exploration sessions across electronics, coding, robotics, woodworking and textiles, and hosts birthday parties built around hands-on maker workshops.
Our take
A standout, if pricey, choice for curious, hands-on kids who want to design, tinker, and create beyond the classroom.
Parents like that...
- kids build real projects like catapults, robots, or LED wearables
- the space is dynamic, well-equipped, and encourages creative risk-taking
- instructors are passionate and knowledgeable, especially in the camps
Keep in mind that...
- pricing for single-day workshops can feel steep
- parking and drop-off logistics can be a bit hectic at the Bethesda location Parents also choose Imagination Stage, Children’s Science Center Lab
