Steve & Kate’s Camp Silver Spring is part of the 70+ location Steve & Kate's Camp family, in operation since 1980. Campers choose which activities they do, with whom they do it, and for how long, because when you empower kids to make their own choices and be their own bosses, they tap into new reserves of confidence, resiliency, and creativity. Families can buy any number of days and drop off and pick up whenever they want, with long camp hours and meals and snacks included. The camp runs at The Siena School.

Our take

A flexible, self-directed camp where kids have the freedom to explore their interests—from baking to stop-motion animation—on their own terms

Parents like that...

- it’s ultra-flexible: pay only for the days you use, with lunch included - independence and variety keep kids engaged, especially those who like to choose their activities

Keep in mind that...

- the unstructured setup works best for self-directed kids; those needing more guidance might struggle - experiences can vary widely—some parents find it too “Lord of the Flies” for their liking
