Valley Mill Camp has served families in the Washington, D.C. area since 1956, on more than sixty acres of deep woods around a two-acre spring-fed lake in Darnestown, Maryland. It offers a coed camp program for children ages 4 to 14, where counselors selected for character lead activities that build group cohesiveness and resilience through outdoor challenges. Transportation is included with tuition from over 20 pick-up and drop-off locations.

A beloved traditional outdoor camp where kids swap screen time for no-frills, dirt-under-their-nails adventures

- it's an all-day adventure with swimming, kayaking, archery, rock climbing, and more - the tight-knit camp fosters lifelong friendships and cherished traditions - twice-daily swim sessions help build strong skills quickly

Keep in mind that...

- activities are gender-segregated, which some find a bit old-school - may be a tough sell for kids who aren’t into roughing it
