Salsa With Silvia 4 Kids is a family-owned dance studio founded by Silvia Alexiev, whose kids program launched in 2016. From studios in Washington, DC and downtown Bethesda, it teaches children ballet, hip hop, jazz, tap, modern, Latin dance and Mommy and Me classes, plus bilingual dance-focused summer camps, with an emphasis on fun, discipline and confidence.
Ballet & Creative Movement at Salsa with Silvia is an exciting, semester-long dance class for independent little dancers ages 3-4 (no caregivers in the studio), blending the grace of introductory ballet with the freedom of creative movement in a structured yet playful environment. Children learn basic ballet positions, simple steps like plie, tendu, and releve, along with across-the-floor exercises, while exploring imaginative themes, free dance, props, and music. This class participates in the end-of-semester recital production.
Required equipment
Ballet leotard, tights, and ballet shoes for girls; and stretchy pants, t-shirt, and ballet slippers for boys.
These policies ensure a safe, creative, and respectful environment for all participants.
samanthaIt was a good fit for us because it was very conveniently located. The instruction level and content were variable - but somehow by the end the kids all seemed to learn something and had fun. The end-of-year show is a racket, but that seems to be true everywhere in DC. Salaa with Silvia at least does a great job if making it feel like a fun-oriented supportive community — not a competition.
