HoopEd is a youth sports provider whose programs are primarily basketball, along with soccer, volleyball, kickball and flag football, for children ages 4 to 13. Its camps and programs also include sports-and-art options such as HoopEd Create! and Soc-Art, and a Spanish-immersion arts and sports camp (DEDOS). HoopEd runs year-round after-school classes, holiday camps and summer camps at dozens of schools and recreation centers across Washington, DC and Maryland.
Our take
A laid-back sports program that keeps kids on their feet and won’t break the bank.
Parents like that...
- kids enjoy a mix of sports and games with flexible, friendly instructors
- mini-camps on school closure days save parents from last-minute childcare scrambles
- indoor options at some locations provide relief from summer heat
Keep in mind that...
- some camps feel unstructured, with limited skill-building
- younger kids (aged 5-6) may find the all-sports format overwhelming
